FP1 cancelled due to bad weather at Phillip Island and excellent performance by the riders of the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team, who reach the Q2 in the afternoon session
Cowes (Australia), October 18th 2024 – After a bad weather morning, which forced the organizer to cancel the first free practice session, Marco Bezzecchi is immediately among the protagonists of the Day 1 at the Australian GP host at Phillip Island. Riding the Ducati Desmosedici GP, the rider of the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team signs the third place and the direct access to tomorrow's Q2 (11.15 am local time). Fabio Di Giannantonio also did well finishing in P8.
Uncertain sky and time attack mode from the first run for Marco who improves his lap time to 1'27.958, a crono that means the slipstream of the leading duo. On track with both compounds available, he is satisfied with the feelings while riding.
Positive balance also for Fabio, increasingly at ease and capable of a good 1'28.312. Goal achieved and second qualifying session assured in view of tomorrow Sprint (03.00 pm local time).

Marco Bezzecchi - 72
It went really well today, I'm happy, the best Friday of the year together with Jerez and Le Mans. At the beginning of the session it was a real mess: we all started immediately in time attack mode because the sky was uncertain. I pushed, but at the beginning it wasn't easy because the bike, turned really well, but it wasn't stable. With the soft used at the rear I felt better, but even with the medium I didn't have a bad experience. I'm happy, let's continue like this, tomorrow the weather should be better.
Fabio Di Giannantonio - 49
This track is truly spectacular, fantastic, even if at times scary, in the sense that some points are truly breathtaking. I enjoyed the afternoon session, we were fast, to tell the truth we all started off like crazy because there were a lot of dark clouds. A very good balance, the feelings are very good in view of the GP, it's just a shame about the yellow flag at the end. Maybe I could have improved more in terms of lap time.
