OUR TEAM

Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team

OUR HISTORY

The Team was born in 2014 thanks to the partnership between Sky Italia and the VR46 Riders Academy for supporting the young Italian talents of the two wheels from Moto3 up to the MotoGP; After three seasons in Moto3 and two Junior World titles at CEV (Nicolò Bulega in Moto3 2015 and Dennis Foggia in Moto3 2017) the Team jumps into Moto2 in 2017 with Kalex;

As a Rookie in Moto2, in 2017, with four podiums, Francesco Bagnaia achieves the title of Rookie of the Year. The following year, Bagnaia was crowned World Champion in the Moto2 class, on a Kalex bike; Bagnaia is the first rider of the Sky VR46 nursery to land in MotoGP in 2019 with Pramac Racing (Ducati). He has been followed by Luca Marini (2021), runner up in Moto2 in 2020, and Marco Bezzecchi (2022), third in Moto2 in 2021;

The MotoGP dream: in 2021 Luca Marini debuts in MotoGP thanks to the partnership between Sky Italia, the VR46 Riders Academy, the Avintia Team and Ducati. As a Rookie in MotoGP, he was the only rider to have crossed the finishing line in all the 18 races of the season.

Reference Team in the lower classes and capable of achieving the Rookie of the Year award in all categories. After Bagnaia (Moto2) in 2017, the title was repeated in 2019 in Moto3 by Celestino Vietti Ramus and then by Bezzecchi in MotoGP in 2022.

Luca Marini, in his second year in the premier class, and Marco Bezzecchi lead Mooney and the VR46 Racing Team in MotoGP in 2022. On the Ducati Desmosedici GP bikes, dyed yellow and black for the occasion, they conquered 231 points and impressed with their consistency and growth in the season finale. Luca came close to the podium on several times while Marco signed the P2 at the Dutch GP. At the end of the year Marco is the Rookie of the Year with 111 points.

Still riding Ducati, Luca Marini and Marco Bezzecchi give the Mooney VR46 Racing Team a 2023 dream year with three wins for a total of nine podiums.

To these, we must also add a seal in the Sprint for a total of 10 placements in the Top3 on Saturday. Many goals achieved, above all the first victory in MotoGP for Marco and the whole Team at Argentina GP (together with French GP and Indian GP) and the third place in the overall standings. For Luca, however, the satisfaction of the first podium at Americas GP and a really positive last part of the season before starting a new adventure.

The 2024 started with a new title partner, Pertamina Lubricants, with whom the team launched the Fluo Stream. New liveries and a new teammate for Marco Bezzecchi, Fabio Di Giannantonio, the first non-Academy rider in the team history. It’s a record for the Roman rider and a huge success for the team, that proves a massive growth..

The Fluo Stream Act 2 sees the team becoming the Ducati Factory Supported Team in 2025, with a rider lineup featuring Fabio Di Giannantonio and Franco Morbidelli who will ride for the VR46 Racing Team for the first time in his career.

The season brings with it many confirmations, from the title sponsor to the colours, but the line-up is slightly different: alongside Fabio Di Giannantonio, already part of the team in 2024, Franco Morbidelli arrives. The circle is completed for the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team, because although Franky is new to the squad, he is one of the veterans of the VR46 Riders Academy. It is a crowning achievement for both the team and the Italian-Brazilian rider. The new line-up shows growth and solidity throughout the 2025 season, securing a total of six GP podiums and seven Sprint podiums. Fabio ends the year in sixth place, followed by Franco, who claims seventh position in the World Standings. It is also a successful season for the team, which finishes third in the Teams’ Championship.
