Morbidelli secures Top 5 and direct Q2 Spot, Di Giannantonio satisfied with Day 1

The Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team riders end Day 1 of the Grand Prix of Thailand with positive feelings. Morbidelli gets the Q2 and Di Giannantonio is back on his Ducati after the injury.

The Day 1 of the Grand Prix of Thailand starts in a good way for the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team. In the opening weekend of the 2025 campaign, Franco Morbidelli goes straightaway in Q2 with the P5 in the Practice, while Fabio Di Giannantonio is back after his left collarbone injury and completes his Friday in a solid P15.

Morbidelli proved to be fast from the start and he was second in FP1, 158 thousandths far from the top position. Franco was quick all day long, he was constantly in Top 5, and he ended the Practice in P5. With the time of 1’29”306, he improved the FP1 time, and he showed a positive race pace.

Di Giannantonio was back on his Ducati for the first time since his left collarbone surgery after the crash in Sepang test. He is satisfied with his feeling at the end of the Friday of the Grand Prix of Thailand. This was only the second day for Fabio on a MotoGP bike after his last race – in Buriram at the end of October – and he ended the Practice in P15 (1’29”753). Great work for Di Giannantonio, who rode for the first time with this configuration of the Desmosedici GP.

The Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team is back on track tomorrow for the qualifying (10:50 am local time, +7UTC) and for the Sprint Race (3 pm local time).

FABIO DI GIANNATONIO

“It’s good to be back in the MotoGP paddock and I couldn’t wait to work again with the team here in Buriram. I think the comeback was very good, we did a great work even if we are not on top positions. I didn’t expect to suffer with the collarbone, I have pain in the shoulder, but I’m confident we will find a compromise thanks to the work of the team. We have a little technical gap because I didn’t test, but the bike has a great potential, and I can see a big margin of improvement”.

FRANCO MORBIDELLI

“It was a positive first day here in Buriram because we already improved the pace compared to the test. There’s still something to improve in some areas, but overall, the day was very good. I feel better on the bike, we started in a good way and I am happy. In the second time attack I couldn’t complete a good lap because of yellow flags, but the one I did before was enough to be in P5. I am confident both for the qualifying, where the goal is to fight for the first row, and for the Sprint race”.
