Morbidelli satisfied with Barcelona test despite the rain

The official MotoGP test day in Barcelona ended halfway through the day due to rain conditions for the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team, which gathered positive feelings with Franco Morbidelli, who finished eighth and was the team’s only rider on track. Fabio Di Giannantonio did not take part to the test.

After the Catalan GP full of drama, the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team stayed at the Circuit de Barcelona – Catalunya for the official MotoGP test day. Franco Morbidelli was the only rider on track for the Tavullia-based Team, and he ended the test halfway through the day due to the rain, finishing eighth. Fabio Di Giannantonio missed the testing day to recover ahead of the next GP after yesterday’s crash.

It was a positive test day for Morbidelli, who continued working together with the team on improving even more the confidence on his Ducati. He tried many solutions despite the little time he had. Sure enough, it started to rain in the afternoon and both Franco and the team decided not to hit the track for the afternoon session, ending the day earlier. The morning session was very productive and satisfying, though, Morbidelli completed 41 laps overall. His best laptime was 1’39”128, which allowed him to end the test in eighth place.

Di Giannantonio stopped today: he didn’t take part to the official MotoGP Barcelona test. After yesterday’s crash at the Catalan GP, the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team and the rider have agreed not to participate in today’s test day at Circuit de Barcelona – Catalunya and to focus on recovery ahead of the Italian GP, the next MotoGP round.

The Barcelona test ended, now it’s time to head home and recharge the batteries ahead of the Italian GP: it will be a special weekend for the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team and it will take place at the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello from 29th to 31st May.

FRANCO MORBIDELLI
“This test was very useful, I am happy. It was good to go through some stuff that we couldn’t try during the weekend. I liked some solutions, so it was a good day, it’s a pity we had to stop halfway through the day. I want to bring the positives of these past weekends and this test to Mugello, because it’s our home race – my second one after Brazil this year. The confidence is coming back, we are improving the feeling with the bike and the package overall, this is the right direction.”
