Fabio Di Giannantonio ends Silverstone race in sixth place, and he secures important points for the championship. Franco Morbidelli is eleventh.
The Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team had an intense Sunday at Silverstone: in the British GP, Fabio Di Giannantonio crossed the finish line in sixth place after a challenging race in which he got 10 important points for the championship. It was a positive Sunday also for Franco Morbidelli, who was eleventh after fighting for the Top10.
Di Giannantonio had a difficult start from the second row, and he was eighth after losing some ground in the first corners. But Fabio started his comeback right away, showing a good rhythm despite the positions he had to regain. He was able to recover lap by lap thanks to his good tyre managing, and he was very close to the Top5 in the final laps. The rider from Rome crossed the finish line in sixth place, just one tenth away from the fifth. Di Giannantonio is now fifth in the World Standing with 199 points, just 10 points away from the second in the championship.
Morbidelli had a good start from the third row and was able to keep staying in the Top10 group throughout the first half of the race. The tyre drop in the final laps prevented Franco from keeping his rhythm. However, the Italian Brazilian rider materialized the work done so far on Sunday’s race too, confirming he could stay in the Top10 fight. Morbidelli crossed the finish line in eleventh place, and he now sits sixteenth in the World Standing with 53 points.
The Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team is back on track in three weeks, when the MotoGP action restarts with the Aragon GP, which will take place at MotorLand Aragon from 28th to 30th August.

“It was a good race. I definitely could have done better than a couple of places higher, but the sparks at the start distracted me a bit and I lost some ground. Then, I tried not to consume the rear tyre, but I ended up consuming the front one. Of course, it’s not the result we want, but today it was the maximum we could do. For sure, we must make a step to get closer to our rivals, but we keep pushing, working hard and believing. We are aware that we can fight for the top positions and be closer than that. We want to do great things!”

“Today I had a good race start. I pushed too hard in the first laps to stay in the group, so I struggled a lot in the second half of the race. But I wanted to face this race like this to feel that I’m fast. So it was, the race was good despite managing the tyres was hard. Overall, the weekend was positive, I am happy. We worked well and I was feeling well, here I rode faster than last year. Now, the goal is to head to Aragon keeping the momentum.”

“The first race weekend after the summer break is always very important. The second half of the season kicked off at a track where we knew we were going to struggle more than our rivals. But it was important to collect some crucial points with Fabio, and now we have 10 points less than the second in the World Standing. We must not give up, we must keep thinking race by race. Franco had a very good weekend, he got Q2 in qualifying and he fought for the Top10 in both races. Now we can fight to be in Top10 always. In three weeks, we head to Aragon, which will be another challenging track. But we are on the right direction.”
