Fabio Di Giannantonio and Franco Morbidelli are back on track for the Spanish GP, the opening round of a series of 12 consecutive races in Europe.
The MotoGP break was longer than expected, with the postponement of the Qatar GP. But it’s time to be back on track again: the season starts again from the Spanish GP, at the Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto. The Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team – at the circuit where secured a front row and a podium in 2024 – is ready to face the first European races of 2026 campaign with Fabio Di Giannantonio and Franco Morbidelli.
Following a very positive start to the season, Di Giannantonio is ready to confirm his good feelings in Europe too. The goal of the Spanish GP is to keep the momentum of the first three races of the season, with a podium, a Sprint podium and two consecutive pole positions in the last two races. The rider from Rome arrives in fourth place in the World Standing with 50 points on the track where he won back in 2021 (Moto2).
Morbidelli is eager to race at the Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto, the first race weekend after the MotoGP break. Franco sits in thirteenth place in the World Standing with 14 points and his goal for the Spanish GP is to be back on top positions. On the Andalusian track, the Italian-Brazilian rider was very close to the Top3 in 2024 Sprint with a fourth place and he was third in 2021.
The Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team will go on track onFriday for the first free practice sessions. Qualifying will take place on Saturday, starting at 10:50 (local time), followed by the Sprint at 15:00 (local time). The Spanish GP will conclude with Sunday’s race, which will start at 14:00 (local time).
FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO
“We are back in Europe, we go to Jerez! It’s a track we all know very well, and it will be interesting to be back in Europe. Once we said the Championship started from here, but for us the campaign started very well in the first three races. We’re strong, it’s a good moment both for the team and for the bike. In these days at home, we’ve been working to find a way to get the most of the front to stop the bike and turn a little more tightly, and to have an even better package for the races. The goal is to continue having the same feelings of the first races that allow me to be strong.”
FRANCO MORBIDELLI
“We’re back to Jerez, one of my favourite race weekend of the season. I like the track, the atmosphere and the fans. Last year we performed well here, the speed was good. I made a mistake in the race and I crashed, but I was fast. We hope to find the same rhythm this year as well. We must arrive to Jerez in a better shape, but in these first three races we collected a lot of data and information we could work on during this break.”
