Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Di Giannantonio end the second day of testing at Sepang International Circuit, marked by the rain during the afternoon session.
The Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team was back on track for Day 2 of the Official MotoGP test at the Sepang International Circuit. The rain had a key role in the afternoon, but it did not prevent the riders from feeling comfortable and showing strong pace with the Ducati Desmosedici GP in the early morning hours: Franco Morbidelli ended Day 2 in second place, followed by Fabio Di Giannantonio, who was third.
It was a positive day for Morbidelli, who continued working on his new package both on dry and on wet conditions with positive feelings. Despite the rain that affected the afternoon session, Franco completed 41 laps overall, with his fastest in 1’56”983. With this time – quicker than last year’s pole position at Sepang – the Italian-Brazilian rider ended the day in second place in the combined classification.
Di Giannantonio’s Day 2 ended earlier due to the rain, as he didn’t ride in wet conditions. With a dry track furing the morning session, Fabio tested the new fairing, giving positive feedback and carrying out an intense aerodynamic work both on track and in the garage. Positive feeling for the rider from Rome too, who completed 38 laps overall, with 1’57”049 as his best pseronal time. Di Giannantonio ended in Top3 for the second consecutive day.
The Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team is back on track for the third and last day of testing at the Sepang International Circuit.
FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO
“It was a pity for the rain in the afternoon, because we had some things to try and we couldn’t. But we are happy with the morning session, we were focused on the aero things, that were quite a lot. We also have some positive comments about the new fairing. For sure, it’s very difficult to confirm a fairing with just some laps on one track in one condition. We need to decide for the first race; there’s still some work to do even at home. I’m giving my feedback, but for sure it was a positive test for us. We will have another day tomorrow, so we will focus again on that also. Overall, I’m feeling good, everything is coming quite easy at the moment, I want to keep my feet on the ground, but now I’m very happy with this work.”
FRANCO MORBIDELLI
“It was a positive day. We were able to get more on normal feeling compared to yesterday. We kept also improving the new package. Until we could ride on dry, we were very quick, especially this morning in cooler conditions. Riding in 56” on this track gives confidence, it’s always special. We will try to go forward from this point. Tomorrow we will have more tyres to use and some more work to do that we couldn’t do this afternoon. But we made some laps on wet, also to get used to the bike on wet. The feeling was good and the speed as well, so I am happy.”
