On the first day of the Italian GP, the rider of the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team leads both the sessions. Positive day for Morbidelli too, who is in Top5 and secures a direct Q2 spot.
The Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team proves to be a great contender on Friday of the Italian GP: on home soil, Fabio Di Giannantonio leads both FP1 (in mixed conditions) and Practice, confirming he is the fastest rider. It was a great start to the weekend for Franco Morbidelli too: he is fourth at the end of the day and secures the direct Q2.
Ready, go: at Mugello, Di Giannantonio started on the right foot by dominating both sessions and proving to be competitive in every condition despite he wasn’t at his 100% physical form. Fabio was the fastest rider in FP1, which were complicated due to the early morning rain. The rider from Rome confirmed his great potential in Practice too, held on dry track. Di Giannantonio improved his laptime in the afternoon – 1’44”808 – ending the Friday at the top.
It was a satisfying Friday for Morbidelli, who started his home race weekend in a solid way. Franco showed a good potential in FP1 ending in Top10 in mixed condition. The Italian Brazilian rider confirmed to have a key role in Practice, where he improved his laptime. Franco set a 1’44”959 as his best laptime and secured a direct Q2 spot in the Italian GP.
The Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team will return to the track on Saturday for qualifying, which will begin at 10:50 (local time). This will be followed by the Sprint race at 15:00 (local time). The Italian GP will conclude with the main race on Sunday, starting at 14:00 (local time).
FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO
“I am really happy with today’s result, I didn’t expect to lead both the sessions, but we did it! For this reason, I am very satisfied. Today, I didn’t feel very well, so I couldn’t ride as I wanted. The finger too bothered me a little, but it’s part of the healing process and I am calm. The track is amazing and the feeling with the bike is wonderful. We managed to try some things, but without too many changes. This means that we are well balanced. We are trying to keep the same high level as Barcelona. We know that it’s not easy nor taken for granted, so we must keep working always. I am very confident.”
FRANCO MORBIDELLI
“It was a positive day, I am very happy. We managed to do a good time attack today, I felt on the bike all the steps forward of Barcelona test. Step by step, we improved the feeling with the bike by working in the right way, for this reason I am very satisfied. In my first time attack, I was even stronger, but the red flag didn’t allow me to complete my lap. The pace was not bad, I had a good feeling, in particular with new tyres. We are working to put all the pieces together, so we can really have fun! At Mugello, the goal is to be in the top positions in front of our fans, at home!”
