The Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team secures the Q2 direct spot with Fabio Di Giannantonio, who is 6th on Friday’s British GP. Franco Morbidelli is 15th following a crash.
The cold greeted MotoGP at Silverstone, where the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team went on track on the first day of the British GP to secure a Q2 direct spot. Goal achieved for Fabio Di Giannantonio, who was 6th in the Practice. Franco Morbidelli ended his Friday in 15th place after a crash in the afternoon, luckily the rider was ok.
Fabio Di Giannantonio built on a solid start of the weekend, from FP1 to Practice he improved significantly the feeling on his Desmosedici GP. During the afternoon, he lead the timesheet, and he ended the session in 6th place. Fabio secures the direct Q2 in qualifying in 1:57.699.
The day started great for Morbidelli, who was 2nd and the end of FP1. A crash at Turn 6 at the beginning of the Practice stopped his progression in the timesheet. Despite a 15th place in the afternoon, Franco improved his time attack by closing his fastest lap in 1:58.103.
The Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team is back on track on Saturday for the qualifying, that will start at 11:50 a.m. (local time, +1 CET). The Sprint will follow at 4 p.m. (local time). The British Gran Prix will end with the main race at 2 p.m. (local time) on Sunday.
FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO
“It was a good day, finally I’m back with my feeling with the bike. We are working in the right direction, understanding many things, it happened during the last couple of races and today even more. For sure, it’s a long way to the top, but I’m enjoying again with the bike. I was happy with the work of the team too, now I can think much more on the lines and the body position, and I can improve myself, this is very important in MotoGP in order to be faster. If the wheather changes, it would be good to have some wet practices because I want to improve myself and the setup on the bike in the rain. In any case, in both conditions we will try to make steps forward.”
FRANCO MORBIDELLI
“It was a tough day. I had a crash during the Practice, and from that moment on I struggled to be on top by the time attack. Then, in the middle of the session, I had an episode with Bezzecchi that unfortunately cost me a three place grid penalty on Sunday. We will try to twist the situation around tomorrow. The forecast is uncertain, in Le Mans we went fast on wet, but we have to be ready for whatever the weather brings.”
