Tricky conditions of the track because of the rain in the first day of the Czech GP; Fabio Di Giannantonio ended in sixteenth place.
The rain complicated the opening day of the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team at the Czech GP, where MotoGP returned for the first time in five years. The team was on track with Fabio Di Giannantonio, and the conditions of the asphalt were far from ideal, so the #49 rider couldn’t catch a direct spot in Q2. Franco Morbidelli, unfit for the left shoulder injury after the crash at Sachsenring, is at Czech Republic to work with the team for his comeback in Austria.
Friday started in mixed conditions and Di Giannantonio didn’t take risks, ending the FP1 in sixteenth place (1:57.073). The Practice start was delayed due to the rain, and the session was challenging. Fabio was sixteenth (2:05.627) and he will go through Q1 in Saturday’s qualifying.
The Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team is back on track on Saturday for qualifying, which begins at 10:50 a.m. (local time CET). The Sprint race will follow at 3:00 p.m. (local time). The Czech Grand Prix will end on Sunday with the main race, that will start at 2 p.m. (local time).
FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO
“It was another good day. In wet conditions, I expected to be more ok with the setup and with the feeling on the bike, but we missed quite a lot in braking. We tried to improve that, and we understood that it was a little issue. Fixing this, if tomorrow it’s wet, I think it will be much better. My speed into the corner is good, the gap from the top guys is not big, I am confident to improve quite a lot on wet. On dry conditions, it will be a question mark, because we had few laps in mixed conditions, but we are sure that our package is very good on the dry. Brno is a track that I really love, and I am confident I can adapt myself to the track in a fast way. For tomorrow, we will see, I think we must expect a group race as always, with many manufacturers in the fight.”
