Difficult Sprint for Di Giannantonio at Brno

A crash at Turn 11 stops Di Giannantonio in the first Sprint ever at Brno track.

Challenging Saturday for the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team at Brno. The Czech GP Sprint, the first ever on this track, ended with a crash for Fabio Di Giannantonio, who was bouncing back from the fifth row start.

Following a complicated Friday in the rain, Di Giannantonio couldn’t confirm his pace in Q2, ending the qualifying in thirteenth (1:52.827). Fabio started from the fifth row, and he tried to recover some positions despite a difficult start. But a crash at the fourth lap when he was eighteenth ended his Sprint. The #49 rider keeps the fourth place in the World Standings with 142 points.

The Czech GP will end tomorrow with the main race, which will start at 2 p.m. (local time CET).

FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO
“We are trying to understand what happened at the start because I did my normal maneuver, but I had a problem with the clutch, and it was quite strange. I think that in the Sprint we had a stronger pace than what we were showing, but the feeling with the front was very strange too, like I never felt before. Strange Sprint and strange crash too, I was not pushing that much, but the front disappeared. But I’m pretty sure that tomorrow we won’t have this kind of feeling, we have an explanation for that. We missed the Q2, and it was a pity, with a completely different starting position on the grid we would have a different race tomorrow, but it is what it is, and we have to work on it. My pace was really good this morning, so I’m confident for tomorrow, we will try to do a nice comeback and enjoy the race.”
