The Sprint of the Spanish Grand Prix was challenging for the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team, that got important points thanks to Franco Morbidelli, who was fourth, and Fabio Di Giannantonio, who ended the Saturday in sixth place.
Morbidelli started from the second row in fifth place (1’35”828), and tried to get closer to the top right away. Franco recovered a position, and he ended the Sprint in fourth place, 453 thousandths far from the podium. The #21 rider sits in fourth position in the World Standing with 84 points.
The Sprint was more complicated for Fabio Di Giannantonio, who started from the eight position on the grid (1’36”054). Fabio bounced back in the race and recovered two places, ending sixth. The #49 rider is fifth in the World Standing with 52 points.
The Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team is back on track on Sunday for the race, that will start at 2 p.m. (local time CET) as the last event of the Spanish Grand Prix.
FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO
“Today we had some vibration on the rear that we didn’t expect and the last five laps of the Sprint were very tough. I did a good start and I was faster than the rider ahead of me, but it was difficult to make a move on him. We have to work for tomorrow to try to recover some places. Today’s sixth place is a good result, but it’s not our goal because we have the potential to fight for the podium. We are not so far from that, I will try to be one of the guys at the top tomorrow.”
FRANCO MORBIDELLI
“I am happy that this morning in FP2 nothing serious happened: I had a big crash and I went against the air fences. I was a bit worried because I was feeling a lot of pain in my neck, but thanks to the physio of my team we could recover enough to secure the second row in qualifying and be fourth in the Sprint. Now I feel a lot of pain, I don’t know how I will feel tomorrow, but today we try to fix some more for tomorrow.”
